Lotto winner spends $42,000 on new teeth that took nine hours to perfect

A lotto winner who once used chewing gum to hide the gaps in her teeth has used her prize money to buy a new smile.

Melissa Ede, 58, who previously went viral for dancing in her kitchen with items attached to her chest, won £4million on a scratchcard. The former taxi driver lost many of her teeth when a passenger violently attacked her seven years ago.

She told the Mirror that she used to use gum, bits of card and even £5 fake teeth off eBay to fill the gaps before spending £42,000 on 23 new teeth.

Describing her transformation as ‘unbelievable’, she said: ‘My teeth were so bad I could have been in the Predator movie.

Now I look in the mirror and someone else is looking back. I feel a young lady. I’ve been waiting for this day.’ Transgender Melissa, who has also appeared on Jeremy Kyle in the past, underwent nine hours of treatement before her new look was complete. Dentist Ravinder Varaich said she had four or five abscesses, and most teeth were rotting.

Speaking of the abuse she has suffered on social media, Melissa said that her winnings had made all of her dreams ‘come true’. She now lives with fiancee Rachel Nason, 38, and her five step children in a £500,000 five-bed home.
